The Riviera Maya is a region, not a single resort or town. The Mexican Caribbean tourism board describes it as the coastal corridor from Puerto Morelos to Tulum. Playa del Carmen is part of that region; Cancun is a different destination to compare, not an interchangeable hotel address.

Our planning recommendation: shortlist the actual hotel and event locations together. Two venues marketed as Riviera Maya can produce very different guest journeys. Compare the airport, hotel entrance, ceremony site, reception, accessible routes and return transportation before committing to the design.

01 / A resort-centered wedding. Keep rooms and celebrations within one property. Confirm the exact event locations, room requirements, outside-vendor conditions and guest access rules. A hotel stay and a private wedding event are not automatically the same purchase.

02 / A nature-led celebration. Explore gardens, beach settings or distinctive private spaces. Ask about rain backup, flooring, lighting, restrooms, electrical supply and equipment access. The practical details should support the atmosphere, not compete with it.

03 / A wedding weekend with several settings. Combine a welcome gathering, the wedding and a farewell moment. Treat each as a separate event with its own attendance, venue approval, budget and transportation requirements.

Your plan can bring together venue proposals, accommodation options for you and your guests, transportation when needed, service-provider coordination, production and the operational schedule. Photography, video, music, lighting, beauty and photo booth services can be discussed as part of the wider celebration.

One coordinated plan does not mean every service is automatically included. Your proposal should identify the services selected, responsible providers, fees, exclusions and decision deadlines. Hotel inventory, vendor access and availability remain subject to confirmation.

Can we plan from the United States or Canada?

Yes. WE Group works with international couples and can organize the planning around remote conversations and local coordination. Start with your dates, guest estimate, budget priorities and any venues already under consideration.

Do we need a planner if the hotel has a coordinator?

Compare the responsibilities, rather than the job titles. Ask who handles hotel events, who coordinates outside services, who supports guest accommodation and transfers, and who manages celebrations away from the property. WE Group can help coordinate the wider plan alongside the hotel’s team.

Is an all-inclusive resort package an all-in-one wedding?

Not necessarily. A package may cover specified event services while accommodation, additional guests, private functions or outside suppliers are priced separately. Our Riviera Maya package guide is a starting point; the written proposal defines your actual inclusions.

Can you guarantee an outdoor ceremony?

No weather-dependent event should be promised without a contingency. Compare the backup space, capacity, changeover deadline and possible charges before booking.
